19 BYU (2-1), dropped seven spots in the AP Top 25 after last week’s loss but remained in the Top 20. Hopes for a six-man New Year’s Bowl may hang in the balance. one thread, the Cougars will have to be very impressive for the rest of the season.
The offense has been effective this season, led by quarterback Jaren Hall. He completes over 68% of his passes for 827 yards, five touchdowns and just one interception in the first three games. Wide receiver Chase Roberts was one of the stars of the season, taking the place of Gunner Romney and Puka Nacua. Roberts leads the team with 15 receptions and 223 receiving yards, as well as a touchdown reception.
BYU will be without one of its best pass catchers in tight end Dallin Holker. Holker left the team and entered the transfer portal earlier this week. Wide receivers Romney and Nacua are both game-to-play decisions, having both missed the past two games.
The Cougar defense will be motivated to go big after allowing the Ducks 41 points last week. Even without two top defensive linemen, BYU expects more from this unit. They will have to control the game on the ground tonight against the Cowboys, as they allowed 161.7 yards per game on the ground (88th in the country).
Wyoming Cowboys make trip to Provo
Wyoming (3-1) is coming off a great home win over the Air Force, rushing for 180 yards in the game. They are led by quarterback Andrew Peasley, who has spent the past four years at Utah State. Their only loss of the season came in the season opener against Illinois.
