Get to Know … Jenna Chiarella – Auburn University Athletics

It’s time to meet the newcomers to the Auburn 2021-22 equestrian team!

Let’s meet a freshman from Sammamish, Washington…Jenna chiarella! Jenna came to Auburn with numerous equestrian accolades, including five Appaloosa Youth World Riding Championships. She also placed in the top 10 at the AQHYA 2020 world show, placing seventh in level 2 riding.

Question: What is your specialty and what do you plan to do with it?
“Currently, I am a general or pre-engineer major. I’m taking introductory courses for a few majors, but haven’t decided anything yet. “

Q: Do you have a favorite place to study on campus?
“I like studying in the library. I don’t do that a lot but when I do I find it very peaceful. I wish I had more time to sit and read and I would come to the library for that. J he also likes to study in SADC It is not as comfortable as the library, but it is a good place to work.

Q: Coming from Washington, was it difficult to adjust to Auburn?
“The most difficult adjustment was the weather. It was so humid here and Washington is not humid at all. I feel like the campus is very diverse so I don’t feel out of place. in the south.”

Q: Tell me something about yourself that not many people know.
“In college I was in our school band. I used to play the clarinet. I’m not good at it or at least I didn’t practice enough (or not at all) , but I’ve always enjoyed the music that bands can play. “

Q: What is your favorite Auburn sport to watch outside of horseback riding and why?
“I find gymnastics very interesting. I used to do gymnastics before I got into horses, so I always liked it. I just find it very exciting.”

Q: What are your goals for this season? What are your goals for the team?
“Right now my focus is on getting good grades and getting used to showing off and being a student. I can re-evaluate my goals when I feel more comfortable, but for now I ‘just trying to get used to everything. “

Q: If you could travel anywhere for 24 hours, where would you go and why?
“I love Europe. I have been there a few times with my family. I love old buildings, beautiful churches, art museums and especially all the history that Europe contains. I went to Italy , France and London. In Italy, I would like to go back to Florence, France, Paris or Versailles and England, London or High Clare. I would move to London if I could. I know my mother would come with me.

Q: What does “War Eagle” mean to you and why?
“The phrase ‘War Eagle’ to me sounds like a joke your family says. Everyone in the family uses it and knows what it means and maybe to strangers it sounds weird, but your family understands and that’s all that matters. “

Q: Name one thing that excites you this season and why?
“One thing that excites me this season is getting to know the team. Again, I don’t have any real goals for the season. I just want to get used to everything and really get to know it. the team. “
