Huskers start season at No.20 in Iowa State

The Nebraska Women’s Gymnastics team will take on the Iowa State Cyclones this Friday, Jan. 7 at 6:30 p.m. CT at the Hilton Coliseum. This is the first regular-season meeting in 2022 and the first time the Huskers have faced a non-conference opponent since playing Missouri on March 7, 2020.

The last time the two teams met was in 2018, when the Huskers outscored the Cyclones 197,175-195,575. NU currently leads the series 98-14-1.

Last time
NU is ready for the first full season of competition since 2019. The Huskers have experienced a shortened season in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic and in 2021 due to Big Ten conference programming only.

Nebraska is led by its four seniors who combined 12 individual titles in 2021. Kynsee roby, a first-team All-Big Ten selection, won five event titles (three on beam and two on bars) in 2021. Anika Dujakovich, a second-team All-Big Ten selection, won four event titles in 2021 (three on vault and one on floor). Kaitlyn higgins added two titles (one on beam and one on ground), while Makayla curtis claimed a title on beam.

Competition scouting
The Cyclones bring back 19 gymnasts from a 2021 NCAA regional team. Iowa State went 10-8 in last year’s campaign. The Cyclones finished the season 21st on RoadToNationals, marking the fourth consecutive season the ISU has finished in the Top 25, the second longest end-of-season race in program history.

Iowa State is run by 10 seniors looking to make an impact in programming.
