Longtime Little League® Volunteer Kituwah Golden Named Western Region Director

little league® International announced Kituwah “Kit” Golden as the new West Region Manager, based in San Bernardino, Calif., effective April 19, 2022.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kit to our team as she takes over in a leadership role at our West San Bernardino area offices,” said Little League Operations Manager Dan Velte. “Kit’s long-standing experience as a Little League volunteer, combined with his experience in customer service and volunteer operations, provides him with a tremendous set of skills that will help us support, develop and strengthen our local leagues and districts in the West Region. , and we look forward to her taking up this new opportunity.

Prior to joining the Little League team as an employee, Ms. Golden spent more than 25 years as a Little League volunteer, including eight years as a district administrator, the highest volunteer within the Little League Baseball and Softball organization. During this time, Ms. Golden served as a member of Little League University’s content committee, hosted tournaments throughout District 20 in California, and helped grow and develop leagues in her district.

“Little League has been an important part of my life from the first day I walked to the ballpark with my family, and now it’s such an honor and a blessing to be able to serve the community of Little League as the new West Region Manager,” Ms. Golden said. “As a player, Little League has taught me the value of hard work, how to deal with disappointment, pride in the game. accomplishment and provided me with mentors to help shape my character along the way. As a parent and volunteer, I learned about the hard work and dedication it takes to keep players on the field and the impact coaches and volunteers have on players’ growth as members of their community. I am thrilled to join the Western Region team and look forward to working closely with the incredible body of volunteers that makes the Western Region such an amazing place to be a part of.

In this new role as West Region Director, Ms. Golden will work with West Region staff to assist local Little League districts and programs in 11 states, improve operations, and continue to develop and implement new initiatives. new training programs as a resource for these leagues. Ms. Golden will also help organize tournaments, including the annual Little League softball tournament.® Western and Northwest Regions Tournament, as well as the three Little League Baseball Tournaments® Mountain, Northwest, and West Region tournaments, held at the San Bernardino Little League Complex.

In addition to her service as a District Administrator, Ms. Golden also has various professional experiences in customer service and insurance services, while operating her own business from 1995 to 2008. Additionally, Ms. Golden has has held various senior positions with her community’s parent-teacher association, an intervention classroom volunteer at Sutherland Elementary School, and website coordinator for Glendora Youth Basketball.

A 1991 graduate of UCLA with a bachelor’s degree in history, Ms. Golden also earned a certificate in nonprofit management from Cal Poly Pomona in 2018 and is currently working to complete a master’s degree in sports administration.

The Little League West Region Headquarters complex includes Al Houghton Stadium, a Little League-sized field that is used for region tournaments and serves districts and local leagues in 11 States (Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming).
