Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München Research Fellowships in World History 2023/2024 (Funded)

Deadline: November 30, 2022

Applications for the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München Research Fellowships in World History 2023/2024 are now open. Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, one of Europe’s leading research universities with a tradition of over 500 years, announces up to five research fellowships for scholars active in world history.

The university is committed to the highest international standards of excellence in research and teaching. Fellows will be based at the Interdisciplinary Center for World History in Munich. During their stay, they will work on a research project of their choice. While the program is open to all subjects in world history or its neighboring fields, the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München is particularly interested in proposals that engage in a new line of research on “dis:connections technologies” which they recently established in cooperation with the Käte Hamburger Research Center “Dis:connectivity in globalization processes”.

Scholarship holders have no teaching obligation. They are expected to work on their research projects and actively engage with the academic community of the university and in particular the center.

  • The scholarship includes cost-effective travel to and from Munich, a monthly living allowance, free accommodation in a furnished studio apartment in Munich, and office space at the Munich World History Center.
  • Health insurance or other benefits are not part of the scholarship and are not the responsibility of the scholarship holder.

  • Open to postdoctoral researchers from all disciplines.
  • Scholars who are already advanced in their academic career and who have strong international experience are explicitly encouraged to apply.

Applications will include a motivation letter, a brief outline of the research to be carried out during the fellowship (1-2 pages) and a CV. Also include information about the preferred time and duration of the scholarship.

All application materials should be sent electronically as a PDF file to Dr. Susanne Hohler via [email protected] until November 30, 2022
