IPL 2022 Qualifier 2 will see Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore face off at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday. At stake is a place in the IPL 2022 Finals where the top-flight Gujarat Titans await. As RR enters the game fresh from a loss, having lost to GT in Qualifier 1, RCB will be encouraged by the fact that they beat Lucknow Super Giants to reach the Virtual Semi-Final. Historically, however, the scales have tipped in favor of the Royals of Rajasthan.

The team that lost Indian Premier League Qualifier 1 won eight out of 11 games in Qualifier 2, a winning percentage of 72.73.

The loser of Qualifier 1 has historically had more success in Qualifier 2.

This will be the first match to be played in Ahmedabad during IPL 2022. Ahmedabad last hosted T20 matches in 2021 – 5 T20I for India vs England and five matches of IPL 2021.

Another crucial aspect that could play a big role is the draw. In Ahmedabad, teams beating second out of T20s played at the venue in 2021 failed to win a single game despite the target being over 170.

There were six occasions when a target below 170 was chased by the team beating second.

There have been four instances in 2021 where teams batting first have set a goal over 170, none of which have been chased.

The team that beats first at the Narendra Modi Stadium will be looking to post a goal over 170.

The Rajasthan Royals have beaten runners-up in three IPL 2022 matches, two of them while chasing over 170 targets. They lost one game and won the other.

On the other hand, RCB have won four out of seven matches while continuing the IPL 2022.
