This Week at Wright State Athletics: October 24-30

A busy week is shaping up for Raider Athletics, as six teams will be in action, including home competitions for men’s football and exhibition women’s basketball.

Women’s football

The Wright State women’s soccer team has been out since Oct. 16 as the Raiders prepare for their final regular-season game Wednesday in northern Kentucky. This game is set to air on ESPN+. Wright State is currently tied for third in the Horizon League standings, with final games all to come on Wednesday.

men’s football

The Wright State men’s soccer team fell to West Michigan in non-conference action last Saturday and has another non-conference game scheduled for Wednesday night against Marshall at 7 p.m. at Alumni Field. From there, the Raiders still have two Horizon League games to play at Cleveland State on Saturday night before an afternoon game against Detroit Mercy at home next Wednesday to close out the regular season. Wright State starts the week in second place in the Horizon League standings.

Volleyball

Wright State’s volleyball team improved its winning streak to 14 games with wins over Oakland and Cleveland State last weekend, knocking out the Golden Grizzlies in four sets before a five-set win over the Vikings . The Raiders remain in first place in the Horizon League standings to start the week, traveling to Green Bay and Milwaukee this weekend. Friday’s 6 p.m. game against Green Bay is scheduled to air on ESPN+.

Cross country
Wright State’s cross-country teams had their last two-week fall regular season races, in the Bradley Pink Classic and the Jenna Strong Fall Classic. The Raiders are making final preparations for the Horizon League Championship, which will be hosted by Oakland on Saturday morning in Michigan.

Bowling
The Wright State bowling team is back in action to close out October, taking part in the Valpo Bowling Classic this weekend in northwest Indiana, just outside the Chicago metro. . The Raiders recorded their first NCAA competition two weeks ago at the MOTIV Penguin Classic, earning their first team win in program history in head-to-head competition against Walsh in action.

women’s basketball
The Wright State women’s basketball team takes to the court for the first time this Saturday afternoon in exhibition action against the Ohio Dominican in preparation for the 2022-23 regular season. Saturday’s show will feature free entry and begin at 3 p.m., with the contest also set to air on ESPN+.



men’s basketball
The Wright State men’s basketball team continues its preparation for the upcoming 2022-23 season, which begins Wednesday, Nov. 9, as the Raiders host Davidson at Nutter Center. Tip for the season opener is set at 7 p.m., with season tickets, single game tickets and once-a-month plans on sale now.
