After many rumors that have circulated on the web, it’s now official! Sadly, Frank Fritz will not be returning for another season of American gatherers on History Channel.
As reported by Weekly entertainment, it looks like the History Channel has made its decision regarding hosts Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, and the latter won’t be returning to the reality show.
According to the source, Mike Wolfe wishes his former co-host the best, sharing in a statement:
“I’ve known Frank for as long as I can remember, he’s been like a brother to me. The journey that Frank, Dani (Danielle) and I began in 2009, like all of life, has seen its ups and downs… but it has also been the most rewarding. I will miss Frank… and pray for the best and all good things for him in the next part of his journey.
It’s a beautiful message and a touching goodbye to its former co-host, but things may not have been as peaceful as it seems between Wolfe and Fritz.
Fritz was the co-host of American gatherers since he started in January 2010. His last episode aired in March 2020. Fritz has retired for back surgery and Crohn’s complications have further delayed his return, the source shares. And, of course, the pandemic hasn’t helped move things forward either. But an interview with The sun overturns additional details.
In the exclusive interview, Fritz commented on Wolfe and him’s strained friendship, telling the source:
“I haven’t spoken to Mike for two years. He knew my back was fucked up, but he didn’t call me to ask how I was. It’s just like that.
This is probably why, in Wolfe’s statement, Wolfe mentioned that they both went through “ups and downs.” Still, fans couldn’t have guessed that the two haven’t spoken to each other for two years! It’s a long time for friends who were so close before.
In the interview with The Sun, Fritz didn’t hold back, also sharing how “the series leans toward him.” [Wolfe] 1000 percent. I can’t even bend that low to show you how much.
It’s always sad to hear that co-hosts who look so happy on screen aren’t as close as they seem!
